Ethernet Xpress Foundation proudly honored Alex Raphael Fernandes, affectionately known as Alexyz, for his remarkable influence and profound cultural impact through his cartoons. The heartfelt tribute was organized in collaboration with the Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr and Ethernet Xpress Pvt. Ltd., celebrating the legacy of a cartoonist who's been a visual historian of Goa for over five decades.
Who is Alexyz?
Alexyz, born in Siolim, Goa (1944), is a celebrated cartoonist whose work gained prominence during the Konkani language agitation and Goa’s statehood movement. Known for blending humor with social commentary, he has published iconic works like Sportoons (1982) and Howzzat! (1987).
With over 40,000 cartoons to his credit, Alexyz has received the Goa State Cultural Award and is the only Indian cartoonist invited to exhibit at the UK House of Commons. His legacy continues to inspire Goans and artists across generations.
